In order to fill this gap, there was an analysis of the theoretical bases of the specialised methodologies performed aiming to capture the pieces of knowledge of the application of the inquiry-based activities during the teaching and to create a comprehensive basis that can be further comparatively analysed. It was discovered that the inquiry-based teaching has some tradition in the field of the specialised methodology, mainly in the natural sciences' fields. However, it is also possible to come across this type of teaching in the fields of physical education or arts related subjects.
