AB The study deals with prefixoids, which advise on the most important term elements in scientific and technical terminology. It clarifies the meaning of the concept prefixoid in relation to the content of the concept prefix. It also clarifies the contents of inferred concepts: adapted foreign language prefixoid, numerical prefixoid, determinologized prefixoid, homonymous prefixoid, hybrid prefixoid, information-confusing prefixoid, interhomonymous prefixoid, international prefixoid, letter prefixoid, national language prefixoid, neoprefixoid, non-translatable prefixoid, abbreviation prefixoid, synonymous prefixoid, polymorphic (multiform) prefixoid, pseudoprefixoid and obsolete (outdate) prefixoid. The study points to several important aspects of prefixoids: etymological, intercultural, multibranch, spelling, systemic, and pronunciation aspect. Knowledge of prefixoids is declared as an important part of the terminological literacy and terminological culture of terminology users. The study also touches on the acquisition of prefixoids in techno- and info-education. The phenomena associated with the use of prefixoids are exemplified by many terms from the field of natural sciences, technology, informatics, applied informatics and ICT.
