THE MEANING OF TEACHER'S AUTHORITY IN THE RELATIONSHIPS WITH STUDENTS

Contemporary changes in education, especially in the sphere of teacher's relationships with students, intensify the necessity of determining the role and the meaning of teacher's authority in the development of students.
Authority exists when the competent and acceptable teacher offers clues, which are possible to receive with understanding and trust, to students. We can say about teacher's authority when students admire a teacher and consider his behaviour as valuable and worth imitating. As far as the exercise of power is concerned teacher's abilities decide about the kind of possesed authority.
