NUMBER - ITS FORM, STATUS AND ROLES IN ANCIENT GREEK MATHEMATICS

The paper deals with one of the most significant and wealthiest periods in the history of the development of mathematics, particularly the golden age of ancient Greek mathematics, and it provides an insight into the diversity of understanding the concept of number in this period.
Keywords: history of mathematics, Pythagorean school, figurative numbers, perfect numbers and friendly numbers.
