DOFKOVÁ Radka, FAČEVICOVÁ Kamila

TVV 2017, 10(1):28-34 | DOI: 10.5507/tvv.2017.005

It is generally assumed that the quality of teachers, and thus also that of educational processes in schools is conditioned by the quality of the students that apply for teacher training courses. There are several common features characteristic for applicants in the Czech Republic that have been established in the long run: a vast majority among them are women; a significant part of the students see their studies at the teacher training faculty only as an alternative to their preferred field of study; attitudes of prospective teachers to their profession are differentiated (based on gender, etc.), and there are regional differences among the applicants....

ČIHÁNKOVÁ Hana, GREGAR Jan, NEUMEISTER Pavel, SITTOVÁ Barbora

TVV 2017, 10(1):35-43 | DOI: 10.5507/tvv.2017.006

Teacher training is one of crucial issues of contemporary educational science. The general conviction is that mainly the quality of initial teacher training significantly influences the quality of teaching at schools at which teachers work. The paradigm shift in terms of concept of teacher training after 1989 (which was based in the implementation of performance-based approaches) brought a new general category – a competence – into the Czech education (we speak about pupils’ and teachers’ competences). The central thought of this change is the transition from the evaluation of results of education via the measure of acquisition...
